Hitachi India Pvt. Ltd. has established the Offshore Development Management Center, a new unit in its Mumbai office, which provides project management support to Hitachi’s outsourcing partners in India developing software products.

Daisuke Yokotsuka, Senior General Manager Offshore Development Management Center, said, “The Offshore Development Management Center (ODMC) will support and reinforce project management communication between the design team of Hitachi’s software product division in Japan and its Indian partners.”
“ODMC will also collaborate with them to optimize product quality, schedule management, change management and others. Hitachi India has a plan to set up the same function in Chennai in the near future,” added Yokotsuka.

Hitachi said it recognizes India as one of the most competent and strategically important markets in software development, and has collaborated with Indian software partners for more than ten years in middleware and management software. Patni, L&T Infotech and Polaris are among Hitachi’s Indian partners who have contributed to Hitachi’s success in the software business.

The company said its JP1 middleware product has been enjoying No.1 market share in Japan especially in mission critical areas. Hitachi is looking at India as a development base to improve the competitive edge of the software market. With an aggressive plan to expand Hitachi middleware business in global markets, Hitachi India will closely collaborate with Indian software partners and enhance business opportunities.

The Hitachi Offshore Development Management Center currently has a workforce of 10 people.
